S... Spice it up!

Okay, I thought the "nesting" thing was pregnancy specific.  I nested HEAVILY in my last weeks of pregnancy- wanting to organize, sort and label everything!  But, although my time is limited... my desire to organize and sort is still strong!

I recently wanted to deal with my spices.  They were a "hot mess" in my cabinet!   I always had to go digging to find the spice I was looking for.  And, my pantry door was screaming to be used for something.   I like to make the most of space and  I had wanted a magnetic spice rack for a quite a while.  The racks I saw online were expensive, so I got a bit creative.

I sent the husband to Home Depot and had him get me a magnetic piece of sheet metal. Cost $15.  I then did a massive google search to find small magnet tins.  I ended up finding the perfect spice tins at Pfaltzgraff.  They are $3.99 for 3 tins.  I googled a promo code and got them all 15% off and free shipping.    Not bad.... hunh?  I bought (but would be easy to make) spice labels at Amazon.   They were $3.95 for 96 labels.   I later added in a few larger tins and a magnet cup (for pens, scissors, etc).

I think it uses the space wisely and is cute to boot!  What do you think?  Until next time....xoxo

G.W.... Gift Wrap!

So, in the past I gift wrapped all our Christmas Gifts in our guest room.  But, now one guest room is our baby's room and this year our official guest room had guests in it.  So, I wrapped gifts in the dining room and had to collect gift wrap stuff from all over.  It was not an organized process at all!

I have been dreaming of a "gift wrap station" for our basement.  My husband laughed when I mentioned this and thought it was "ridiculous".  But, most of my project ideas he laughs at and later loves!  I mostly want a gift wrap station so we can keep it all in one place!

Check out some gift wrap station ideas!

I still have a major need to "nest" and organize.  Babies come with a ton of stuff.  I feel like we are drowning in clutter!  So, gift wrap station... here I come!

Until next time....xoxo

C.C... Colorful Closet!

So, I am really into pretty closets.  I love organizing and we are starting to tackle the soon to be baby's room!  I spotted a really cute closet recently (cannot find photo).  I love the idea of painting the inside of a closet a bright color.  It is just cheerful and pretty!  Perfect for a nursery or linen closet or pantry- pick a color and paint the inside.  Add some shelves and organization and voila!

Here are are inspiration photos to get the creative juices flowing!

J is for Jewelry! Organization!

My friend "K" and I were recently discussing  the "Organizing for your Personality" quiz in this month's Real Simple Magazine.  Wanna take the quiz for yourself?  Here it is!    In short- it helps you recognize if you are right brained or left brained and recommends organization solutions that fit your personality!

I am clearly a Left Brainer!!!!

Left-Brainers
You tend to crave designated locations for everything. Because you like to sort, options with compartments can be especially satisfying. Left-leaners often prefer to keep things out of sight, so boxes that stack nicely in drawers or closets are appealing. Categorizing by date or event comes naturally, and multiples of identical storage options (say, matched photo albums) feed your urge for extreme order.

If this is not you, you are probably a Right Brainer!!!!

Right-Brainers
Forget about trying to adhere to strict rules. Your keep-it-neat plan should capitalize on your pull toward the creative and the emotional. Containers you already own and love can be motivating. Investigate your clutter patterns: Do you drop your necklace on the bathroom counter when you’re getting ready for bed? Maybe you need a wall hook by the sink to catch jewelry. If it works for you, it’s correct.

Jewelry is my big issue....where there is plenty of room for improvement.  I have a lot of it.  So, how do I keep it organized and accessible?
