I is for Inspiration...

I love this feature wall.  Usually I am not into feature walls, but in this case... LOVE IT!  I stumbled across this photo in Better Homes and Gardens magazine.  I could not find this photo on their website so sorry for my bad photo taken of the magazine page.

As you know, I did a Board and Batten project in my master bedroom.  I have gotten lots of compliments on it!  I like a project that adds character to a house!  I have also admired exposed board walls like the one Miss Mustard Seed created.  Unfortunately, the exposed board look does not really go with the style of our house which has a lot of molding, wainscotting, etc.   I think it is a little too casual for our home.  If we had a cape or bungalow it would be great, but our Royal Barry Wills colonial calls for something else.

I have this idea saved in the back of my mind if we ever finish our attic or perhaps for Avery's room when she gets older! :)  You cannot really see the detail in the picture, but the squares are all backed with beadboard that go in opposite directions on the diagonal to create a herringbone type look.  It is classic yet with a twist!

What inspires you these days?  Until next time...xoxo

B is for bedding....

So, I have done a bait and switch from my last post talking about master bedroom bedding.  I thought I would go in one direction and then fate stepped in! :)  I had been eyeing this quilt from Garnet Hill for FOREVER.  It was beyond my price range, but then suddenly I had a coupon code and it was on sale!  I could not help myself.   I bought it and miraculously, the husband accepted it into our home.... though is being a smart ass!  Whenever we get in bed he says "left hand... red" like it is a Twister board!

I wanted something that adds some color and "warmth" to the room.  As mentioned I do like to rotate bedding!  This is perfect for fall/winter!  Drumroll please.....

I always have a down comforter in a duvet folded at the bottom of the bed.  This quilt offers a lot of options for colors, but Garnet Hill had a green duvet set on SUPER sale... all sale was 40% off  ($26 for the duvet).  So, boom- green it is.  The husband does not love the green, but for the price we can always upgrade later to another color.

I will debut photos of my room soon (still adding some final touches)! More nesting! :)  Until next time...xoxo

T.P.: Thomas Paul Pillows... on Gilt now!

I have been desperately needing and wanting to update our master bedroom linens!  We got two gorgeous duvets when we got married, but after being washed A LOT over the past three years, they both look tired and sad.   like to have two duvets so when one is in the wash, I have another option.   I have a sort of silhouette theme going in our bedroom- and would like to keep some the accessories, but it needs some updating and some slightly bolder color.  I stumbled across these Thomas Paul pillows on Gilt Group and thought... yes, that works! :)   An aqua duvet would be perfect  and would add some cheer.  I could also add in a black duvet as my alternate if I wanted.

Thomas Paul Pillow Retails for $100
Bought on Gilt for $40

If aqua/black is not your thing, Gilt is selling other options too. This dusty purple number is pretty cute!

This one sold out quick- but is chic too!
I am feeling super excited that I finally have a plan to go on to spice up my master bedroom!  Sometimes all you need is one "inspiration" item and then you are good to go!  Stay tuned...I will share photos once I find the perfect duvet and put it all together!  I am very particular with how I style my bed.  If you want one of these pillows hurry!  Things sell out quick and this "Shades of Gray" sale ends 11/10/11 at midnight!

Until next time...xoxo

PS:  Still not on Gilt?  Get with it!  Here is an invitation link from me to you!

I is for Inspiration...

I am thinking about my master bedroom these days.   It is fine... but lacks some pizazz.  Thinking maybe I need a gallery wall with some personal and meaningful items, photos, quotes  and more.  What do you think?

This photo is top of mind right now.  I love the matchbooks and posters and large letter "M".

Hmmm... what to do.... what to do!  Until next time...xoxo
