C.J..... Colored Jeans!

There has been a lot of talk around my office these days about colored jeans.  Yes, they are all the rage.... but there are so many color options.  How is a girl to choose?

I had been looking for a tangerine colored pair after seeing them in a fashion magazine, but chickened out in the end.  I figured I would start "safe" and went with red.  They have not yet arrived in the mail, so we will see what I think once I put them on.  But, colored jeans are EVERYWHERE, so it is safe to say I will find a pair or two ... I hope!

P is for Perfect! A PERFECT top!

Okay, my friend "KB" looked cute as can be on Tuesday.  She always looks cute- but Tuesday she was REALLY cute.  I LOVED her top.... tunic length, ruffles, cute buttons and more.  She paired the white top with navy pants- great outfit!

It is an Anthropologie top- priced at $68 it is a splurge for a jersey knit, but worth it!  It comes in black, white and pink.   Pair it with jeans or a slim dress pant and voila!

The hardest part will be deciding what color!  

Happy to say that with the empire waist and roomier mid section- this top is pregnancy friendly at least for those in their 1st and 2nd trimesters! :)  For those not pregnant- it is a no-brainer!  Get it!

As I mentioned last week, I have a festive fourth of July "Commodore's Dinner" in my future and it requires a red, white and blue outfit!  The outfit I shared last week was very cute, but a girl needs options!  Additionally, I need something that works with my expanding pregnant waistline! :)

WTW...What to Wear? Wedding Option #2

Today is another day and another outfit!  If neutrals are not your thing, then perhaps a print will be.  I think this dress is so damn versatile.  You could dress it up (heels, sparkle) or dress it down (dressy flip flop, simple accessories).  You could also wear this baby to work well into the fall (tights, cardigan or blazer).

This dress would be perfect for all types of weddings- day or night.... city or beach!  Prints are big for summer and this print is just perfect!

WTW...What to Wear? Wedding Option #1

I am devoting this week to fashion!  My friend "K" is getting married in a little less than two weeks and I need to find something to wear!  Of course, I have things in my closet that I could wear, but nothing is really knocking my socks off!  Each day this week, I will highlight an outfit that would work for almost any wedding this season.  


Today, it is all about neutrals!  Neutrals are hot right now..... classic, elegant, and sophisticated!  I love the dress pictured here and the simple accessories.  This outfit screams "I am hot but not trying too hard!"

R is for Rain....

April showers bring May flowers.  Today is the first day of April and I would like to think spring is here.  For many of us that means... rain...rain... rain!  Well, have no fear.   You can be weatherproof and look cute too!

Rainboots are the rage right now and their are some super cute ones out there.  My only request is that you only wear rain boots when it is in fact raining or threatening to rain!  These days I have seen folks wearing Hunters and other rain boots in bright sun.  Why?  I have no idea!

C.S.C..... Cute Spring Coats!

Spring is just about here... and it is time to put away the wool coats and pull out a spring coat. There are a ton of adorable spring coats. My collegue "K" came into my office the other day to ask my opinion on two coats she was checking out on the Kenneth Cole sale on Ideeli. "K" is moving to San Francisco so needs some options for lighter weight coats. Well, long story short- she bought both coats and so did I! Now, they were a huge bargain. I LOVE Ideeli. L! Liberty of London!

Okay, Liberty of London hit targets yesterday. I should have been in line at Target at 6:30 am, but was not. I was preparing for company and in truth to lazy to venture out in the pouring rain! My friend "S" though was there. She is die hard. She was there with Orla Kiely debuted too. She is hip and yes... she is cool.

Well, "S" said it was just plain crazy. But there was much love and bonding for those in love with the prints and flowers... and all things pink and purple! Liberty .... is from London... duh and is known for their super cheerful prints! For those that have been to the store in London.... excitement could not be contained for the American debut.

Liberty of London's line at Target included clothing (women, men, and children), throw pillows, duvet covers, dishes, picture frames, garden accessories, scarves, and so much more! I have not yet gotten the skinny on what "S" bought. It is my understanding that she bought a ton and then returned half of it as she went from store to store. Did I mention that she is die hard?

Perusing the website... lots of stuff is obviously already sold out, but... if it were not, I think these would be the items I would have purchased!

Love this wallet....cannot get enough of a kisslock close and the pattern... ooh! :)

This scarf rocks too. Yes, it is the same pattern as the wallet, but I just like this pattern... okay?

My husband would kill me if I brought this bedding home, but can we talk about how cute it is?

Hello adorable two tier tray! Wanna come home with mama?

The husband has been trying to get me to bike ride. I don't ride bikes. But, this one is so damn cute I might just reconsider!

This dress is a must have for my niece......so freaking cute!

B and B: Black and Blue....

One of my new favorite style combos is Navy and Black. Often thought as a "no-no". It is actually incredibly chic! Now, you do have to put thought into this combo so it looks intentional and not like you got dressed in the dark and did not realize your top was navy or your shoes were black... you get the idea.

Paying close attention to fabrics and textures helps as well. A textured wool pant with navy silk shirt and black cashmere cardigan- perfect. Vary your fabrics and textures and it will be a bit easier to work with! Additionally- I think it is a good rule of thumb to make sure you have at least two items in each color- again so it looks purposeful. There are exceptions to this rule- but you have to know what you are doing.

Also- if you are beginner stick to lighter navys as opposed to very dark "off black" navy items. Finding key items that have navy and black in them- is helpful also. I have an adorable pair of navy flats with a black patent leather toe and black bow. Additionally, I just "treated" myself to this adorable coat from forever 21 that is the perfect combo of navy and black- for a mere $35. How could I not?

GRRRRRRR..... Animal Prints!

Grr......I think I have mentioned animal prints before. As mentioned- when done well, I love them. When not done well.... terrifies me. There is a lot of cute and unique animal prints out there these days. One carnal rule of thumb to keep in mind is only one animal print item allowed at a time.

Don't not forget that rule- it is important! This teal animal print dress by Diane Von Furstenberg is perfect and it is on sale at Bloomingdales right now! would be super cute with black tights and a cardigan or worn with bare legs as seen here.

If you are nervous about animal prints accessories are the safe place to start. Shoes, bag, belt- any will do. But again ONLY one animal print item at a time! Be very careful... think classic not cougar! :)

L Squared=Leigh & Luca

Okay, I am totally, completely and utterly obsessed with Leigh and Luca. If you have not heard of Leigh and Luca.... you are missing out. If it is good enough for Mary Kate, Hillary Duff, Naomi Watts, Lindsey Lohan and others... it is good enough for me, I mean us- Right?


Leigh and Luca are the designers of amazingly versatile and ridiculously cute scarves. I am proud (and a little embarrassed) to admit that I have three. I live in my "Peacock Orange" one on the weekends- great with a sweater, skinny jeans and boots or little black dress. I did not want my orange one to be lonely, so I had to buy my grey one, "Bird Toile Check Stone". (Not to mention it was such a good deal on Gilt Group.) I also had to get it because it soooooooo complements my blue Marc Jacobs. It also looks great with a suit for an an artsy but still corporate look. I mean... where to you find that kind of versatility in life? (Have you noticed how I can justify almost any purchase with at least three reasons? Ladies, that is a skill that comes in incredibly handy once married... trust me!)

Speaking of husbands, my not yet mentioned purple one was my anniversary gift this year. Two years of marriage=cotton! Now .... don't be jealous; he is not that smart, but he does follow directions well. I was worried, my VERY practical husband with only the word cotton as a guide might be led astray! Terrified that I might get a dowdy cotton bathrobe, maybe some Hanes T shirts, or perhaps some socks... I took matters into my own hands. Not only did I tell him that I wanted another Leigh and Luca scarf, I picked out exactly which one I wanted. The most expensive one of course; "Swirl Pink". Well done Hubby .... well done! :)
