A is for Accomplished! Tin Tile Backsplash Revealed...

Okay, as I said we are eager to really finish the kitchen makeover.  We have had a few things left on the "to do" list, but just checked one more off the list!

Although I had envisioned subway tiles for our backsplash, I recently began rethinking that.  Because of time, effort and cost.... I had begun to think maybe a tin tile backsplash was a better option.  It would certainly be much quicker and much easier than having to figure out how to tile, buy tile saw, etc.  Our bathroom tile job still has a few "imperfections" and I like perfection!    So, we just went for it!  Well, I will give credit where credit is due.  The husband did it.... I was napping!

We have a Royal Barry Wills colonial, so I figured the tin tile worked with the style/vintage of the house and thought what the hell.  Since you just glue up the tiles, it is fairly non-committal, so if I want to tile a few years from now I can just rip down the tin and hire me a professional tiler.   Also, it was very affordable.  Our kitchen is not huge, so we did the entire backsplash for around $100.  The husband completed the whole thing in around two hours.  I have to say I really love it.  I think I love it more than I would have the subway tiles.  It adds nice contract to the newly painted cabinets and just kind of looks expensive!
Here is the big reveal!

What is left to do in the kitchen?  I still need to repaint window trim brigher white.  I need to find or make pillows for the banquette benches.  I want to make some window treatments.  And, most importantly we need to find or make a pedestal or trestle table.  What good is a breakfast nook without a table!  Stay tuned!

Until next time....xoxo

T is for Twitter!

A big thanks to Bondera for tweeting about me!   All these tweets is making me realize I need to get my butt on Twitter!  Bondera makes peel and stick tile adhesion!  I will need to check out their offerings for my backsplash!   Their website says "if you can paint, you call tile with Bondera!"  Well, I can paint, I have painted at least 6 rooms in my house (some more than once) and all our hallways..... so let me tell you!  I can paint!

Check out Bondera for yourself!  I will need to dig a bit deeper on their site to see if they will meet my needs  to complete my kitchen makeover!  It looks very cool!

Thanks for tweeting and thanks for reading!  Until next time...xoxo

P is for Pantry!

Okay, I am doing another series!!!  Get ready, I am making it official.  This week is spring cleaning week!  Each post this week will be devoted to clearing clutter and making spaces more organized.  Love it.  I dream of quitting my day job to become a professional designer and organizer.  Some day....

Back to reality.  Today's focus is on the pantry!  My pantry is a DISASTER!  I won't be sharing any photos, becuase it is really that bad.  I need to tear out the shelves that are in there and start over!  Someday.

Check out these photos.
This pantry from Emerson Made inspired this spring cleaning week!  It has been showcased on a bunch of other blogs, but I still could not resist!  How amazing is this?

S- Santa can you hear me? I want a kitchen for Christmas!

Dear Santa,
I have been a very good girl this year. Can I please have white quartz countertops, a new sink, hardwood floors and a new backsplash of subway tiles in my kitchen? Please!!!

I have kitchen envy... all the time. We bought a house that had a "updated" kitchen. At the time that seemed like a good idea since I did not think we were too handy. Now, I wish I could gut it and do it just as I want it. Some people are afraid of picking out all the details- this sounds like heaven to me.

We have cherry cabinets that are too nice to rip out- so I have to keep those... at least for a while. But, hardwood floors instead of black tile would really brighten up the space which is quite dark. Additionally, I hate our cheap-ass countertops. They do match the floors... but they are cheap and ugly. Quartz... oh how I love you....shiny and bright....crisp and clean.

This is a inspiration photo that keeps me going when I fall into my kitchen depression. I cannot quite remember where I found it. I love the combo of white and wood. It looks "crisp" but comfortable. The husband got a new car.... now I get a kitchen. Doesn't that seem fair? Marriage is about compromise and making each other happy! Don't you think so husband?

Happy wife... happy life. Right? Until Next Time....xoxo
