F is for found! X Bench Options!

So.... waaaay back when I wrote about X benches.  I love X benches.  The ones I found where kind of expensive, but I have been constantly been looking for a cheaper option.   I actually located a few.  The bargain hunter still wants them cheaper, but these are at least in my price range!

Neither of these options really go with my decor as is- but has that stopped me before?  If I could get one (or two) of these cheap enough.... I would certainly make it over!  One option is just to leave legs as they are and to recover.  This would work in my living room as an ottoman for our chair.  Or I would love to paint the legs white and recover the seat in something lighter that would coordinate in my master bedroom or guest room.

I stumbled across this one on Target!  At $80 it is not too expensive (although I am holding out hoping it goes on sale).

This one is from K Mart... yes, I said K Mart!  Hey, it is only $50!  Yes, ugly fabric, but has potential for better things.   Imagine that animal fabric gone and something sleeker in its place!   You could even paint the legs, white... black... a bold color... whatever.

I have always had a thing for doilies.  I think it is just that I like all things vintage and all things girly, but they are just sweet.  Wether you collect old ones or new ones and frame them or use as stencil when you paint or buy items made with doilies.... I love it all!

C is for Cake.... a cake pan is wall decor!

Okay, I love highlighting creative and cheap wall decor ideas.  Check out here to see some the past posts which included trays, mirrors, ceiling medallions, embroidery hoops and more!

I thought this was a SUPER clever idea... cake pans!    In truth anything in a collection makes cool and cohesive wall decor.  I could only find one photo of this idea..... so use this as your inspiration if you want to do this in your own kitchen.

So, my daily readers know that I have spent many a posts focused on inexpensive and creative options for wall decor.  This ideas have included ceiling medallions, empty frames, embroidery hoops, plates, and mirrors.    Today, I have another idea for you, trays!   Easy to pick up at most flea markets or antique shops- there are plenty of options with this idea!

T... for Trellis!

So, last week Centsational Girl debuted her trellis wall!  It is beautiful!!!  I was reading her "how to" which involved cutting a stencil, drawing lines and then hand painting.  She lost me at the hand painting part.  She also shared a reader project from Living Life Outloud- which seemed a bit easier... involving a purchased stencil.

C.M.... Ceiling Medallion!

So, if you have been reading my blog- you know I love creative DIY wall decor ideas.  I have highlighted a few options so far including empty frames and embroidery hoops.  Today, I have another cool idea!  Use ceiling medallions to create an interesting wall gallery!

I love ceiling medallions- they are beautiful and historic!  You can buy new ones very inexpensively at Home Depot or Lowes and they are not just for ceilings!!  Keep them white or paint them a bold color and hang those babies on your wall!

Another cool option is to make a ceiling medallion clock!  If you want to know how to do it, Casa Sugar has great instructions to make a clock similar to this!

F is for Frames! Empty Frame

One of my favorite and inexpensive wall decor looks is empty frames.  That is right.... buy picture frames and hang them with nothing in them.  You can buy new or old, have multiple colors or paint all one color!  The options are endless, but this look is chic and affordable.

F is for Floors! Cool Floors!

I recently stumbled across some very cool floors.  I know you don't always think floors are cool, but they can be!  We are a finished room in our basement that needs an identity (currently is a very rarely used "Man Town").  I have dreams of taking this room over and my first project would be to paint the worn wood floor to create a checkerboard!  You can learn how to paint a floor from This Old House!
